Leipzig

The beauty of sunsets.

Random people having fun.

Some perfectly normal people, I've no idea why I bothered to take this photo.

queuing_in_a_safe_manner.jpg. There is actually a pavement directly to the left of this photo that could be used for queuing. The following night we queued in the road next to the pavement.

In this picture you can see the direct route from the Volkspalast (dome on the left) to the Kohlrabizirkus (double-domes just visible behind the trees on the right). I'd missed a band by taking a longer route.

Route from Volkspalast to Kohlrabizirkus

I arrived a day early, and went to look at some of the non-WGT attractions. Just as I approached the Volkerschlachtdenkmal (People's Monument to the dead of the Napoleonic Wars) I stopped to take photos, and the gentle rain turned to hailstones.

The view from the top is great.

Have a look the sky here in the right-hand photo - particularly the contrast between the clear bit and the black bit. The venue was full and running one-out-one-in; having seen the queue I thought I wasn't going to get in to see the band, so I turned round, saw the sky, and thought I might want to be to be in a tram fairly quickly.
